It is said that the best gift to give someone is education. Education is the process of facilitating learning or acquisition of knowledge skills, values, beliefs and habit for personal and societal development. I would like to equate Dr Steve Ogbordjor to one great educationist by name John Heinrich Pestalozzi who belief in the total education, that is cognitive, affective and psychomotor and also character and social life were important and could be shaped by the environment. With this belief, Dr Steve Ogbordjor saw the need to impact and shape our life at Donkorkrom, Afram – Plains over 16 years ago. All started in 2002 when visionary Dr Steve Ogbordjor came to our school to give us carrier education and also announced free extra class to us. I saw the timing of his announcement as perfect because most of the teachers in my school were transferred leaving our school without adequate teachers, since DR Steve is a man of his words, he indeed organized this free extra classes for us which we took very seriously. Our facilitators were well equipped, motivated to deliver. Regular talk, get-together, rewards, etc. kept the spirit of hard work among the participants. We wrote the BECE and came out with flying colors. In fact, we were about 200 pupils who took part in this laudable exercise. Dr. Steve words of encouragement, guidance and good counselling helped demystified science which we thought was very difficult. He instilled in us the can do attitude which helped us to look beyond our environment. I went to Senior High School, pursued science and passed well got admission to Kibi Presbyterian college of education were I obtained my diploma in basic education. And letter went to University of Cape Coast where I obtained my Bachelor of Education. Other participants also passed well. Because of the good academic foundation laid, many professional: Teachers, Nurses, Pharmacist, Liberian, Custom Officers, Military and many other Vocations in the diaspora. The impact on education at Donkorkrom is that, the teachers were motivated by our performance hence continue to work harder. Likewise, the pupils.
The extra classes organized by Dr. Steve has left indelible mark as the outcome was very positive. We are role model as a lot of our young ones look at us as inspiration. I heard one said I can make it since we were able to make it. Let us come together and collectively assist Positive Role Model Foundation so others who are brilliant but needy could be supported to climb the ladder of success through education for it is said that one tree can never make forest. I am very much grateful to you Dr Steve Ogbordjor/ Positive Role Model Foundation.
